Just spent four days at the Capital City Film Festival #CCFF in Lansing, Michigan. This was the fifth year the event, and I'm sorry to say it was my first time going (I should've been there before). I am a film-festival goer and always thought this festival to be the little red-headed stepbrother of the Ann Arbor and Traverse City Film Festival - Yes, it is smaller, but the energy, variety of films, lack of elitism, access to venues, and low cost was great considering the quality of the films, the local beer and food served, and the great red-carpet parties. Both a family and adult event. Standing room only on opening night - with a live orchestra. A nice variety of four different venues within walking/bicycling/bus distance of eachother. Projection quality was great, again, with a wide variety of films. Filmmakers were in attendance and some spoke after premiering their film. Two live award events for video-game makers, and film-makers with prize money to boot. Will definitely attend again, and encourage others to as well.
